BSNL DataOne Broadband brought the Internet Broadband revolution to India, but with brought a lot of problems which hampered the experience.
The most common of these problems were failed connections at random times and most of us end up calling BSNL Customer Care to get this resolved. In this post I will show you how you can do this yourself. I will refering to the UT Starcom UT300R2U here as this is the modem I have.
Open your browser and type in the address http://192.168.1.1
You will be asked for a username and password. By default, in most cases, this the username will be 'admin' and password will be 'admin' (both without the quotes).
You will get a neat interface of your router. Select Advanced Setup from the menu on the left. You should get a submenu under Advanced Setup. Select WAN from this submenu.
This should load up a page with a list of records. Find the record with 0/35 and click Edit.
Click Next. In the next page, make sure PPPoE is selected and click Next.
On the next page enter your username and password and click Next. Finally click Save. This should take you back to the main Advanced Setup -> WAN page. Click Save/Reboot on this page and wait for the page to refresh (this should take 2 minutes).
You're done.
