Add custom airports to the Google Earth flight simulator

Google Earth has a neat flight simulator that allows you to start your flight from a list of pre-defined airports. The list of airports is limited and you can easily add your own airports to this list.

To add a new airport to the list:

» Search for and edit flightsim.ini, which is in the Google Earth installation folder.

» Search for the section takeoff_locations.

» Add a new line for the airpot you want to add in this format :
'ABCD' 'Airport' 'ABC' 12.345678 12.345678 12.34

» Edit the line as follows:
'ABCD': 4-letter ICAO code (or use the airport code)
'Airport': The name of the airport
'ABC': Runway name
12.345678 12.345678: Latitude / Longitude
12.34: Runway heading

Save the file and start the Google Earth fligth simulator. You will now see the new airport in the list.

There is a YouTube video of the above process which can be viewed here.

To add Dabolim Airport, Goa, India to the Google Earth flight simulator, add the following line to flightsim.ini:
'VAGO' 'Dabolim, Goa' '08' 15.377853 73.817393 167.00

Have fun!

UPDATE: The Dabolim Airport, Goa, India airport heading is a bit way off, I will fix this and post an update here soon.
